Over 36 yrs BBR has built a unique niche within the collecting world, run BY collectors FOR collectors. BBR’s reputation & enormous output continue to meet every need of keen & eager dedicated worldwide collectors.
As an enthusiastic, fledgling, collector Alan Blakeman started a small A5 newsletter in 1979 for likeminded folk, and the rapidly expanded family firm has today become a world leader in all its specialist fields, priding itself on old fashioned friendly & honest values – with regular catalogued auctions, the UK’s FOUR, quarterly, busiest specialist Fairs, ongoing specialist book publishing – and so much more! Small enough to care, big enough to cope.
BBR opened at Elsecar Heritage Centre, S. Yorkshire, in 1991. Since then the large brown road signs leading off jct 36 (M1) have led many many thousands of visitors down into the idyllic village, & the Heritage Centre housing a major Antiques Centre, various Craft Shops & cafes, a full size steam railway, plus the only Newcomen beam engine in the world still in its original housing (& recently refurbished/ restored). Also on site, of course, is BBR itself (inside the Antiques Centre).
BBR Fairs: Europe’s 4 largest quarterly Bottle, Pot Lid & Advertising Fairs inside the massive Blg 21, regularly presenting 120 to 150 varied stalls from all over the UK, & often worldwide. The spread of material is unique in the British Isles – quality & quantity in abundance! The SummerNational week-end boasts approx 40,000 sq ft of stalls inside & out whilst the Sunday auction remains BBR’s annual highlight offering – drawing collectors from worldwide.
BBR Auctions: We hold the premier major Auctions of Antique packaging, much ‘fresh to market’ material, both alongside the Fairs themselves PLUS conduct a number of ‘On the Road’ auctions around the country. Our rates & services to sellers & buyers are unbeatable (see Auctions).
Four quarterly week-end events at Elsecar are supported by Saturday Unreserved sales (500+ lots) with a major catalogued highlight beside the BIG Sunday Fair. The SummerNational week-end boasts approx 40,000 sq ft of stalls inside & out whilst the Sunday auction remains BBR’s annual highlight offering.
